O-Desmethyltramadol (hydrochloride) is a primary active metabolite of Tramadol. O-Demethyltramadol is mainly responsible for its μ-opioid receptor-related analgesic effect. Tramadol is metabolized to O-Demethyltramadol mainly by the cytochrome P450 (CYP) 2D6 enzyme.
